Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team Malta was officially established in February 2010, although it has been around as a submission grappling club since 2008. At BJJ Team Malta, the first club on the island specialising in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, students can learn and train Jiu-Jitsu for competition, self-defence, fitness and as a sport. BJJ Team Malta was established by Keith Darmanin, who has been training martial arts for over 25 years. He is the first and only Maltese to be promoted to BJJ Black Belt (Master Rogerio Olegario Black Belt under Professor Osvaldo Alves). BJJ Team Malta was the first club from Malta to compete & win medals in international BJJ competitions such as the prestigious IBJJF European Open, European No-Gi & ADCC trials.
